Welcome To Frailloop - Recycled Steel Sculptures
Frailloop specialises in pieces of recycled steel sculpture, ideal for gardens, business parks and commercial spaces. Based in Ilkeston in Derbyshire, Frailloop is owned by Steel Sculptor, Gavin Darby. The name “Frailloop” is used to reflect Gavin’s view of the world and the fragile links that holds the environment together. Gavin's chosen medium is found metal – recycling industry waste and rubbish.
The objects themselves give him inspiration to weld them to a form, suggesting a plant or bird. Pieces are built to last, with an appropriate finish. His belief is that each piece should be allowed to mellow into its surroundings, allowing the different metals to react naturally with the world, and allow the shades of reds and browns to take over.
Each piece is individual and unique. Animals are brought to life with a face to achieve a character – an inquisitive look, a cheeky grin, the occasional scowl – allowing Gavin to add a little of his humour into each sculpture.
